The History of Xi Xi Chapter

 

The Xi Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc., was chartered on March 25, 1977, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, by ten honorable men.  Charter members were Michael Biggs (1st Basileus), Stanley Whittlesey, Leslie Dixon, Kenneth Harvin, Tony Dedmon, Howard Eley, Thomas Pinckney, Thomas Franklin, Jimmy Lawrence, and David R. Doctor.

 

These brothers were organized by Michael Biggs, who saw a need to make Omega Psi Phi, Inc. a part of the Fort Knox Community.  Being the first African American fraternity to apply for status on Fort Knox, the brothers had to convince the Fort Knox command that any projects done by the chapter would be honorable so as not to embarrass the post or the fraternity.

 

Once accepted, the chapter embarked on a mission to provide services to Fort Knox as well as the Hardin County and surrounding areas. The chapter sponsored events such as a Talent Hunt, Essay writing Contest, Voter Registration Drive, Blood Drives, Assault on Illiteracy, UNCF Drive, as well as numerous other events in the local community.
